Unit 1 Settlement
Early European settlers in America were searching for wealth, power, and religious freedom. As you learn more about the colonial period, it is important to remember that North America was already inhabited when Europeans began establishing settlements. Native peoples had lived in North America for thousands of years. For these indigenous peoples, European settlement was a disruption that would change the course of their lives. Europeans established settlements in three regions. The Southern, Middle, and New England colonies have unique characteristics that reflect the climate and the customs of the Europeans who settled there.
What do you already know about the colonial regions? Dig deep in your brain, all the way back to 5th grade.....I know, it seems too long ago but you've got this!
